About the band

MAET LOAF evolved from “LEAVE IT TO RUST” which was a band made up from BARLOWORLD HANDLING employees. The band included Craig, John and Pete, plus a drummer, a rythmn guitarist, and a sax player. Craig decided he would like to create a MEATLOAF tribute band, and Mike, also a Barloworld employee, joined in Spring 2004 following the break up of Mike’s covers band, which Keith and Mike originally started, and in which both Steve and Craig had guested. In the summer of 2004 the line-up had a major change with the drummer, rythmn guitarist and sax player leaving. Jodey and Melissa joined as backing singers, Steve (Nobby) joined as the drummer, and Keith joined as the second guitarist after having had a break from bands for 2 years. In may 2005, John had to relucantly leave the band, and by chance, Steve bumped into Geoff, an old mate of his who he played with in a band many years ago. Geoff had 3 weeks to learn the Maet Loaf set as the new bass player. In early 2006, Pete decided that commuting from his vineyard in Spain for rehearsals and gigs was too much for an ageing rockers lifestyle, so Simon (who stood in for Pete from time to time while he was soaking up the wine and the sun in Spain) has became the permanent lead guitarist.

Leave it to Rust 2002 - 2004

As so many different variations of players in the band have previously performed together, it is no surprise that this eventual line-up has evolved, this shows in the instinctive way that everybody blends together, but most importantly has a great time together. The “Green Room” is an interesting place to be !!!
